Fr Charles has been Vicar of St John's since March 1998.
Before coming to this parish he was Rector of St Clement and All Saints, Hastings, where he was also appointed Rural Dean of Hastings. He also has experience of non-parochial ministry. From 1986 until 1991 he was the Selection Secretary and Vocational Advisor of the Advisory Board of Ministry, during which time he also served as Priest Vicar at Westminster Abbey and St Margaret's, Westminster.
Vocation continues to be a special interest of his. He was until recently
Woolwich Area Vocations Adviser in the Diocese of Southwark; he is a
National Pastoral Selector for the Ordained Ministry and is currently
editing a book on vocation, "This is Our Calling".
" I am an honorary assistant priest having served my title at
St Christopher's (Pembroke College Mission) in Walworth. Most of my ministry
has been in hospital chaplaincy. I was the Aileen Kerr Fellowship holder
in the Maudsley Chaplaincy and during that time completed an MA in
Pastoral Studies (Heythrop, London). Up to the end of 1999 I was a chaplain
at King's, which enabled me to use my social work training and counselling
skills, obtained at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation.
Since February 2002 I have been Anglican Chaplain to Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals.
I am involved as a personal tutor in SEITE and a workshop facilitator on
the SPA course and I am also a spiritual director.
My interests are reading, theatre and cinema. I am married to Peter who
is an RC and we have a son Andrew who is at university. My experience in the
struggle of women to be priests has made me concerned about a church that
is truly inclusive for all regardless of race, disability, gender or
sexuality.

Jonathan was licensed as Honorary Curate on 17th of December 2000 by the Rt Revd Dr Tom Butler, the bishop of Southwark.
Brian has been a reader licensed to St John's since the early 1980s. He is
the legal adviser to the Competition Commission. He is also the Lay Vice
Chair of the General Synod. Despite these other commitments, he values
enormously the exciting and vibrant life of the life of St John's - the best
parish church in the Church of England - from which he draws much of his
spiritual nourishment.
